Great new marijuana products, readily and legally available in many states, have simplified baking delicious pot brownies. Eliminated are the time consuming steps of extracting the THC oil from the plants, which could often heat the plant to the point of destroying the pharmaceutical properties of this popular weed. Here is one of my favorite recipes that must be hidden from the kids – and remember, just try a nibble until you understand the potency of your oil.
Gina’s New Wave Pot Brownies
- 1/2 cup butter, cut into 4 equal pieces
- 1/4 gram CBD isolate
- 1/2 cup Dutch-process unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 teaspoon real vanilla extract
- 2 extra-large eggs
- 3/4 cup unbleached all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 Cup walnuts or pecans (optional)
- Confectioners’ sugar, for dusting
- Preheat the oven to 325° F. Grease an 8-by 8-inch or 9 x 9 baking pan.
- In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, melt the butter, and add the CBD (note, you can make 2 cups of butter with 1 gram of CBD and just use part of it, if that is easier), and cocoa powder, stirring continuously until the butter is just melted. Use a rubber spatula to transfer the cocoa mixture to a large mixing bowl.
- Let the cocoa mixture cool for 2 minutes. Add the sugar, chocolate chips, and vanilla and stir with a wooden spoon until combined. Add the eggs 1 at a time, stirring so that each is well combined. Add the flour and stir until just combined. Do not over-mix. Fold in the optional nuts, if desired.
- Transfer the batter to the prepared pan and bake on the center tack for 20 minutes for 9 x 9 pan or 22 minutes for 8 x 8 pan. A toothpick inserted in the center should come out clean or with tiny crumbs. Do not overcook.
- Dust with confectioners’ sugar, cut into 9 squares, and serve. Or, store for up to 2 days in a tightly-sealed plastic container.
- Depending on your CBD, this should be about 247.5 mg of CBD for the entire batch. If you want stronger brownies, add more CBD into the butter. Do not use more butter.
